Gilligans are renowned for quality, custom made, bespoke detailing and personal service.

Jack Gilligan established Gilligans Blinds in Lonsdale Street Melbourne in1937.

In the 1930’s Jack was a salesman of window coverings & soft furnishings at a Melbourne department store but he had the desire to do better than what was available at the time.

In the early 1940’s Gilligans Blinds moved from Lonsdale Street to Westley Street in Hawthorn East.

During World War II, Gilligans workrooms were seconded by the Australian Government to produce coats, knapsacks & other garments for the armed forces but Jack continued to make window furnishings during this time.

Jack’s daughter Cathy Gilligan took over in 1975 and was the sole Director of Gilligans until the start of 2018, constantly developing new services and finding practical solutions for Gilligans clients.

Gilligan’s Blinds eventually out-grew the Westley Street workrooms and in 2007 relocated to Hall Street, Hawthorn East, and expanded again in 2013 to Mulgrave, where we still manufacture all of our made to measure blinds & custom furnishings on site.

Roman Blinds, Soft Romans,  Roller Blinds, Austrian Blinds, London Blinds, Bedheads, Pelmets, Ottomans, Wall panels, Padded screens & cushions. Ziggy Romans & Ziggy bedheads.

Bianca Franklin took over from Cathy at the start of 2018, with the same experienced & highly skilled team in the workroom and office.

Gilligans caters for the needs of Interior Decorators & Designers throughout Melbourne & has customers all over Australia.

We are happy to assist with any query you have with regards to meterage required, fabric suitability etc.

Every piece is individually handmade using traditional methods. Our workroom crafts people check your fabric, cut, meticulously join, pattern match, sew & carefully assemble your blinds .

All custom made pieces are checked before being wrapped for delivery.

Gilligans provides services on a strictly wholesale manufacturing basis, catering for the needs of Interior Designer and Decorators.
